Counselling provided by a BACP counsellor is treated normally as entirely confidential. Breaching that confidentiality would never be taken lightly and would only arise in exceptional circumstances. For example if the counsellor judged it to be necessary due to a perceived risk of death, injury or harm to client or someone else. If there was a disclosure around potential Child Protection issues, or of a legal requirement of disclosure by knowledge of money laundering or terrorism activity.
The timing, frequency and fees for the counselling session will be by prior arrangement. Each session will be for 50 minutes, with the arranged fee due to be paid at the end of that session. If a client wishes to cancel an arranged session, a minimum of 48 hours notice must be given to the counsellor, failing which the client will be liable for the full fee of £45. As much notice as is reasonably possible will be given to the client, in the event that the counsellor has to cancel any session.
Whilst counselling is considered generally to be beneficial, this may not be so in every case. Consequently it is important that there is a regular review by the counsellor, with the client, of the ongoing process to enable discussions around the therapeutic benefit to the client.
£45 per client session.
